An Innovative, Student-Centered Approach to Intercultural Skills' Acquisition for Students and Young Migrants
Main Activities
For achieving the project objectives, the following activities were implemented:
Research within the universities and VET centres of the consortium on common forms of hate speech online (on social media) and offline (in face-to-face communication) through the implementation of focus groups and a survey.
Assessment of the intercultural skills’ of the local and migrant/foreign students and other young individuals participating in the project BEFORE the implementation of the MATE workshops and activities.
Workshops with local students and other young individuals on how to identify, report and combat racism and related phenomena, such as hate speech.
Intercultural, experiential events (MATEvents) for bringing together local and migrant/foreign students and other young individuals to mingle, identify human commonalities and celebrate diversity.
Awareness raising campaigns against racism through the production of material, such us short spots, by the local and migrant/foreign students and other young individuals participating in the project, in order to combat racism and promote respect for diversity.
Assessment of the intercultural skills’ of the local and migrant/foreign students and other young individuals participating in the project AFTER the implementation of the MATE workshops and activities.
